Business History and Philosophy
The owner, lead massage therapist Jeannine transitions from a 32 year career in the public service industry of Public Safety as a firefighter, paramedic, Chief and Executive Fire Officer. The stress, mental and physical demands on that job were the motivation for my first seeking the use of massage therapy. During this stress-filled career I have personally experienced the results of stress related disease processes, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, major inflammation and injuries. I found the drug-symptom - based treatment of western medicine to fall far short of its healing goals and come with its own host of side effects. After suffering for years, I turned to alternative healing modalities. Unless I am experiencing an emergent situation, I tend to try natural healing modalities first. I am amazed at the bodies own ability to heal itself when it is functioning well or supported and nurtured. The ability of the mind to control aspects of our bodies is astounding, even those functions once thought outside of our control. I am an avid receiver of regular massage. I have found doctor guided body chemistry, nutrition and vitamin therapy to be crucial to healing disease processes that are gaining momentum. The old adage of my Grandmother Julia that Prevention is the best medicine turns out to be true. Science continues to find that the chronic stress we endure in our daily lives can be significantly more damaging to our health than those sudden onset short lived stressors. Regular Massage and meditation is very beneficial in managing those stress responses and lessening the harmful effects on our physical beings. Of course modern western medicine and pharmacological drug treatments play a vital role in medicine, as do surgeries but prevention and taking care of ourselves is ideally the best and most affordable path to healthcare. Our personal wellness is a critical element in the process of personal growth and the effective leadership of our selves and others.
In my passion for natural alternative therapies, and disease prevention; I received my initial training from the Bhakti Academe of Healing Arts in Safety Harbor, Florida beginning in 2006. I am currently licensed in the State of Tennessee 10065, and NC 13305 as well as a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.
Professional Massage Therapy and its related modalities are NOT in any way shape or form "sexual" in nature and any thing, thought or act of that nature violates our professional code of conduct, ethics and reason for our existence. We are here to help people with there health and wellness and will NOT tolerate any such suggestions or behavior! Our Massage Therapy and related modalities are therapeutic wellness and healthcare!
Healthcare is a team effort. The partnership of client, well rounded physicians, and an effective massage therapist covering a variety of treatment modalities is a key factor to wellness care. I have seen the horrors of our current state of medical care, and I have seen some of the miracles. There are certainly times where modern medicine and pharmacological therapy is essential. Life-threatening illnesses and emergency care are two examples of those appropriate times. Open discussion with your doctor and doing your own research so that you can make knowledgeable and informative choices are crucial to your best care. You are special, unique and made in the image of God, take stock in your own well-being to be your own best health advocate. Even those of us who spend many hours caring for others need to make time to care for ourselves to be most effective for others. It is so easy for the caring nurturing person to forget that.
I have found massage to be very effective at prevention and early treatment for some injuries and some illnesses, especially those that are stress related. neuro-muscular, connective tissue or minor athletic type injuries. Massage is useful to aid in circulation and removal of toxins. Massage is highly effective for reducing stress effects on the mind and body as well as affecting the mind-body connection. Massage decreases inflammation and assists the cells in regeneration, therefore massage can support the immune system function. Science is beginning to back up the benefits of massage. Science has also demonstrated that we are electromagnetic energy bodies. Touch therapy works with those energies. As an energy body we interact with every other body and all matter around us. This is how Spirit intermingles with mind and body. Science is proving that we truly do have a collective conscious with the world around us. Stress interferes with the proper function of our bodies and thus our energetic field. Stress can come in many forms. I have included some highly acclaimed sites for science of the effects of stress on the body and the benefits of massage therapy in this website to assist you in gaining knowledge.
Massage can enable freedom within the whole body-mind connection. The benefits of massage are plentiful and include reduced muscle stiffness, reduced pain, less fatigue, improved range of motion and circulation. The harmful effects of stress which can accelerate aging can be lessened resulting in improved energy level and overall feeling of well-being. Injuries can be frustrating and emotionally devastating; massage is highly effective for common sports injuries such as tendinitis, muscle strains and ligament sprain. Massage can assist in recovery of cells as well as decrease inflammatory reactions and subsequent toxins. All of which have been determined to be disease promoters. Massage is one of many modalities we can use to promote a healthy well being of our self.
As an avid receiver of massage therapy for a variety of issues, I have a good history of experiencing the effective and the not so good massage. It is important for the client and the therapist to communicate clearly about the expectations of the massage and the results prior to, during and after sessions. The therapist must utilize client feedback to make any necessary changes to facilitate the most appropriate therapy at the highest level of comfort for the client.
